strolling at shanties

The Hyannis HyArts Artist Shanties are open for the season!

There are some new additions this year, doctor a singer songwriter spotlight series, artists from the L.I.F.E program and Cape Cod Can will join for a weekend, literary artist return, and more than half of the artists this year are first time shanty artists!  We are thrilled Love, Live, Local is taking up residence in the Bismore Park Visitor Center.  Cape Harmony will delight audiences this July and August and we have a fabulous September Sounds Jazz line-up…it is sure to be a happening scene at Hyannis Harbor all spring/summer and fall!

Hope you can make it down for a stroll to visit the artists, hear the music and enjoy the sights and sounds at Hyannis Harbor.

We are looking for some help/assistance for the Barnstable 375th Anniversary picnic. The event runs officially from 11:30AM till 2:00PM on Sunday, 9.21.2014. HOWEVER, like any great event, lots of things take place long before it begins, such as set up, prepping food, etc.  Ron Glantz and Ralph Krau are the co-chairs and are looking for people who would be willing to spend only an hour or two grilling hamburgers, putting food together, serving food, serving cake or soda, etc.

They also have need for people to help set up tents, to help bring food and supplies from the school building to the Village Green, and for people to take things down after.  Finally, they need a few persons to work at various times, mostly in the morning on Friday, September 19th.   The objective is to spread out the work among several people so a few do not have to work the whole event.

For many of us, this event will be the last time you will see a major anniversary event for the Town of Barnstable. The next major anniversary will be the 400th in 25 years.

Please let us know if you can lend some time for this worthwhile and fun event.

Thanks in advance,
