Ellen Brady, search the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce, treatment
is seeking volunteers for the Barnstable October Bash on Saturday, October 26th from 1 to 3 PM.  Several Board Members have volunteered, but more volunteers are needed.  All GHCA members are encouraged to call Ellen at 508- 775-7778, X-10 with questions or to volunteer.

Glen Cannon, who is an engineer with the Hyannis Access Study as well as with the Cape Cod Commission, did an updated presentation of the Route 132 & 28 corridors from Bearse’s Way to Willow Street to the Yarmouth Town line.  Phase #1, which is from Yarmouth to Route 28 is targeted to begin in the year 2017.  Other phases are dependent on both Federal and State funding, via the T I P Program.

New Fire Station:  The Building Committee Advisory Committee is listening to the information being given by the GHCA.  There will be some changes to the footprint.  And the target date is October 28, 2013.  Some changes include the need for the museum or the community room.

General GHCA Membership Meeting to “Meet Your Councilors” was held on September 24, 2013, and there were 5 Councilors, and 6 members of the Board plus one person in the audience.  Councilor Tinsley and Representative Manal were not represented.

Garden Report:  There continues to be a lack of water for this plot, and the lawn is being destroyed by large trucks en route mostly to the Steamship Authority who take the turn and drive up on the lawn.

A grant was obtained from the Lombard fund to provide funds for a person for the part time position of coordinator for the Hyannis Supporting Our Youth Program.

The marketing Committee is in favor using business ads to attract small businesses to join the GHCA.  A suggested charge would be a modest amount of $25-$100, so as to support the GHCA directly and indirectly.  The Fund Raising Committee was asked to provide further information to the Board.

Deb Krau volunteered to write a letter to the Town Administration on behalf of the GHCA in support of the signage for “Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” as reported in September’s Board report. (Pat Richards, Chair.)

Harbor Lighting: Brad P. advised that the parade will begin at 4PM.  There will be more food and everything is progressing nicely.
